The fundamental root of sexual suppression in any country has always been the superiority that men have had over women.
As we hear of crimes in the news everyday of the sexual abuse, harassment, and injustice inflicted on the women population of India, we see time and time again that men have never been able to submit to the women’s intelligence. That has led to years of frustration on both sides ultimately leading to the current state of the country. Where did we go wrong?
Somehow somewhere in the troubled history of our country, men’s supremacy became the status quo. Be it the plundering invasions of the Mughals or the general egoistic attitude of the British raj, these legacies were passed down from generation to generation. As men continued to take advantage of their physical superiority over women, the woman became second to the man. Even her attitude of servitude and devotion to her husband was misunderstood.
